As an advisory firm, Angel City Advisors provides a broad portfolio of services that help family offices, fund managers, foundations, municipalities, and other market participants connect to proximate enterprises and impact investment vehicles. We identify, cultivate, and organize pipelines of enterprises, places, initiatives, and projects that merit financial and programmatic partnership. We develop strategies and ecosystems, but also manage intermediaries, and lead individual pilots and ventures. At the highest level, we act as the connective tissue between catalytic capital and social innovation.
Position Summary
The Associate will report to the CEO of Angel City Advisors and be responsible for supporting the management of emerging impact investment funds managed by the firm. The position is primarily remote and involves regular virtual meetings and updates, the majority being with the company CEO or COO. Working closely with the CEO and other team members, the Associate will ensure the efficient and effective implementation of Angel City Advisors’ strategic goals and client initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong connection to social enterprise, impact investing, or community development, along with experience in direct investment vehicles (early-stage venture and/or small business lending) or fund management. This role offers significant growth opportunities into the disciplines of investment analysis and fund management as experience and responsibility is demonstrated, and as the company expands. Upon a performance review, the selected candidate will be onboarded as a full-time employee after a 90-day exploratory contract.
What You’ll Do:
Priority Workstream
While Angel City Advisors has multiple clients, the Associate, Impact Fund Operations will provide immediate operational leadership in support of the new Echoing Green Signal Fund (the Signal Fund) focused on deploying catalytic capital directly to global social entrepreneurs and innovators at early and growth stages. Angel City Advisors has entered into a multi-year partnership to assume fund management responsibilities for the Signal Fund, whose primary pipeline consists of roughly 1,000 acclaimed Echoing Green fellows. The Associate will ensure that the firm’s operations align with the management needs of the Signal Fund while also supporting the demands of other Angel City Advisors clients. Angel City also supports other niche impact funds including the SoCal Impact Food Fund, the Michigan Good Food Fund, Angel City Seed Fund, and investments from a number of philanthropic PRI makers.
Initial activities will focus on managing the investment process for the Signal Fund and, as capabilities are demonstrated, evolve into investment analysis and deal structuring activities under the mentorship of the CEO and diligence team. Exposure to other clients with financial and enterprise advisory needs will be integrated over time.
Relationship Management
- Engage with Echoing Green leadership and fellowship, ensuring all interactions are respectful and supportive, recognizing the importance of their innovations and contributions.
- Provide clear and supportive communication to fellows expressing interest in the Fund, sharing information on investment criteria and pipeline onboarding, and ensuring a positive experience regardless of the funding outcome.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, industry experts, and impact-focused organizations.
- Support investor relations activities, including preparing materials for meetings and report-outs.
- Represent Angel City Advisors at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities, fostering a respectful and supportive community for social entrepreneurs.
Pipeline and Due Diligence Support
- Manage the pipeline of potential investees, including initial outreach and support through the intake and review processes.
- Communicate program nature, processes, and expectations clearly to prospective investees.
- Draft intake interview notes, create investee files, update pipeline CRM documents, and share-out learnings to CEO and team.
- Support due diligence team meetings, including agenda preparation, document collection, and coordination with prospects. Engage with due diligence team.
- Assist prospects and diligence team through investment committee pitch prep, diligence documentation, and investment transaction processes.
Portfolio Management
- Support and manage relationships with portfolio companies, providing ongoing support, clear feedback, and strategic guidance.
- Draft investee interview notes, identify potential support interventions, and share-out recommendations to CEO and team.
- Monitor and manage the investment portfolio, tracking financial and impact metrics, and conducting periodic reviews and analysis.
- Maintain flow of funds dashboards, including schedules of repayment deadlines and key decision points for fund manager.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and updates on portfolio performance for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and respect.
- Conduct industry research to understand market trends, competitive landscape, and growth prospects.
- Identify business models, revenue models, areas of investment risks and mitigations in collaboration with the investment team.
- Perform or assist in financial modeling and analysis to assess investment potential, including financial projections, valuation, and risk assessment.
- Work closely with the CEO and other team members to develop scaling milestones and collaborate on drafting investment memos and presentations.
- Provide support for due diligence team, with the opportunity to grow into a lead role in investment analysis.

- Strong professional writing skills that range from well-crafted emails to executive memos to investment memorandums.
What you’ve done:
- At least two years of experience in business advising, business financing, investment, entrepreneurship, or portfolio management required.
- Exposure to early-stage business experiences such as participation in accelerators, business consulting ecosystems, lending or investing networks.
- Formal training in business fundamentals, such as MBA or similar business degree, VC or banker training, accounting or investment licenses, or participation in finance mentorship programs, is a plus.
- Experience in international commerce, non-English language proficiency, or cultural competency – especially in Global South countries – is a plus.
